Actor Sachin Parikh has always been appreciated for his acting abilities and knowledge of the craft. However, not many know that acting runs in his blood. His father was into theatre, which is how Sachin also got involved in acting. “Basically, if you see, I am the second generation from my family, in this fraternity. My dad was more active in theatre, in his early days, in the late 70s. My dad Mahesh Parikh, along with Paresh Rawal , Shafi Inamdar , Swaroop Sampat , Homi Wadia , were all one gang and loved doing theatre. I used to observe them in my childhood and get immensely inspired by the process and work. But like my dad, I had never decided to pursue it professionally and completed my graduation from NM College and did LAW from Mithibai. But somehow, destiny gave me an opportunity to show my artistic side and started doing professional theatre and got a break in a Gujarati TV show called ‘So Dahda Sasuna, as a hero. That's how the journey in TV began,” he says.
However, Sachin did find it challenging to face the camera for the first time. “I was extremely nervous. After the first day of the shoot, I actually went back home and thought that the director will definitely replace me. But I gained my confidence on the very second day and did my best. I remember seeing my director jumping with joy, more for the fact that I was very receptive to my approach and flexible to accept what he wanted out of me. There was no looking back. From that day until today, I am still learning from every work that I take up,” he says.
However, the actor says that he should have experimented with his look a little more during his early days. “I wish I had experimented with my look. I have always been lazy or maybe I can say, ignorant of changing my look as an actor. Of late, I have realized that I can carry off different looks quite convincingly. This is so very important for an actor,” he says.
