Anupamaa Prequel: Puja Banerjee to play Vanraaj’s ex-girlfriend
It is no secret anymore that the makers are coming up with a prequel to their super successful daily soap Anupama, which airs on Star Plus. Produced by Rajan Shahi under the banner of Director’s Kut Productions, Anupama started airing in 2020 and has been topping the TRP charts ever since. Buoyed up by its thunderous success, the makers are set to launch its prequel, Anupama – Namaste America, and casting for the same is currently underway.
The latest we hear is that the makers have finalised popular actress Puja Banerjee to play the character of Vanraaj’s ex-girlfriend on the show. The actress was last seen in Star Bharat’s Jag Janani Maa Vaishno Devi.
Confirming the same, Banerjee shares, “Me and Sudhanshu share a great bond. We are like best friends! When I heard about Anupama-Namaste America, I was excited to work with him yet again after our first film together, Rajdhani Express. In the prequel series, I will be playing the role of Ritika who is Vanraaj’s Ex-girlfriend from his college days. Ritika’s character in the show is bold and empowering which perfectly resonates with my personality. Moreover, it is an overwhelming moment for me to be associated with a highly successful show like Anupamaa and share the screen with such versatile actor Sudhanshu Pandey. I hope viewers will enjoy watching Ritika on the screen as much as I enjoyed playing it.”
Anupama- Namaste America is set to launch on Hotstar on Monday April 25, 2022. More details on the show are expected to arrive soon.
