Bharti Singh tenders apology after hurting sentiments of the Sikh community
Bharti Singh is well known face in the industry. She is one of the rare female comedians who has gained popularity across the country. While people appreciate comedians for bringing smiles to their faces and tickling their funny bones, there have been instances where people believe comedians go too far and harm religious or communal emotions with their jokes.
Many celebrities, like Sambhavna Seth, Yuvika Chaudhry, and Kiku Sharda, have suffered a backlash in the past for offending some segments of the audience. Bharti Singh has now come under fire for her comments, which the Sikh community interpreted as a slap at them.
Bharti made a few comments about folks with long beards and mustaches during a chat show. The Sikh community took offense and alleged that the jokes were intended to humiliate them. Bharti was criticized by many Punjabis and Sikhs for shaming people from her own place.
Bharti has now recorded a video in which she expresses her thoughts on the matter. She maintained that she was making a generic comment and made no reference to any particular community, religion, or caste. She also expressed her regret to the community and stated that she would never want to degrade the community in which she grew up and that she would always strive to make her people proud.
