Durga Puja, Bengal's much-anticipated celebration, concluded yesterday. Sindoor Khela is a significant ceremony performed on Dashami, the concluding day of the Puja. As Maa Durga prepares to leave her parental house with her children, married ladies bid her farewell. They put vermillion on each other and pray for the long lives of their husbands.
Many performers returned to their roots to celebrate Vijaya Dashami in the most traditional way possible, taking part in sindoor khela and dhunuchi naach. Rupali Ganguly, Smriti Irani, Sumona Chakravarti, Ishita Dutta, and other actresses wore traditional white sarees with red borders for Sindoor Khela. They took to social media to share photos from the occasion.

Ishita Dutta, a new mother, posted a video in which she is seen applying sindoor on husband Vatsal Seth's cheeks, who also applies vermillion on his wife's cheeks and chins. The duo looks stunning in traditional attire. The actress captioned the video, "Sidoor Khela, a celebration of womanhood and unity, on this auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami, seeking Durga Maa's blessings and guidance."
Divya Agarwal, an actress, also shared a series of images from sindoor khela festivities at one of her friends' homes. "The family I never thought I'd have," she said in the post. "What a beautiful day. Sabko khush rakhe, Mata Rani."
Sumona Chakravarti shared a snapshot on her Instagram account yesterday of her outfit before taking part in the celebrations. Her pals also posted footage of her dancing to the rhythms of Dhaak. She recently posted a series of photos, one of which shows her face splattered in red vermillion. The description for the photo says, “Bijoya’r priti o shubechha. I’m not a religious person at all but Durga … this feels different. There is a bond. A very personal, intimate bond. She makes me vulnerable & yet resilient. The only one to make me bow down to her. It’s her energy that I feel. Thank you, Maa, for your love & blessings always. Aasche bochor abar hobe! Shubho Bijoya.”
Actress Smriti Irani also posted a selfie of herself before participating in Sindoor Khela with the caption, "Ready for Sindoor Khela." Following that, she posted a snapshot on her Instagram story of her cheeks and forehead smeared in red sindoor with the comment, "Bijoya pronam to all elders."
