Sonia Kashyap, who is known for her work on the Sahara One show ‘Kismat Connection’, was recently a victim of a disheartening scam. Someone who pretended to be the famous TV director Rajan Shahi, who made shows like ‘Anupamaa’ and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, is said to have scammed Sonia out of more than Rs 50,000. When Sonia, who was from a small town in Assam, was looking for acting jobs, she found a phone number and a link on Facebook that said they belonged to Rajan Shahi.

Sonia contacted the imposter because she thought she had found a real job opportunity. The imposter told Sonia that there were casting calls for famous serials like ‘Anupamaa’ and that he worked for Shahi's production company, Director's Kut Productions. The imposter pretended to be Rajan Shahi and talked to Sonia. He then asked her for money to join the Cine And TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA), saying that she needed to do so in order to get a part.

Sonia sent about Rs 53,000 to the imposter for the supposed CINTAA registration because she believed what he said. But the trouble did not stop there. Later, she was asked to pay an extra Rs 24,000, which she said she couldn't afford. The faker told her she would get her money back, but Sonia never got the money back. When she tried to get in touch with the people involved, she couldn't. This made her wonder what was going on.

Sonia Kashyap went to the Mumbai Police with a report, telling them what happened and asking for justice. In her plea, she talked about how weak she felt as a simple country girl trying to make it in the city by acting and selling bags for women. She talked about how she always needed money and work to stay alive and how upset she was that these people had lied to her. Sonia asked the police to help her get her hard-earned money back and make sure the scammers got the punishment they deserved. This would stop them from scamming other people in the future.
