On July 15, his father, the famed Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani, was discovered dead in his apartment. He apparently lived alone in Pune and passed away three days before the cops discovered his body. On social media, a few groups of internet users condemned Gashmeer and said that he neglected to ask his father about him during his final days and ignored him.

While some followers condemned Gashmeer, a small number of fans and actors stood with him when he was being bullied on social media.
