It'll be interesting to see the new generation's reaction: Kiran Karmakar on Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii's OTT debut

In the early 2000s, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii was one of the most popular shows on Indian TV. The show aired from Monday to Friday at 10pm on Star Plus. The popular show's first episode was telecasted on 16 October 2000. After 8 years, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii finally ended its run on 09 October 2008, with 1661 episodes.

Produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii explored the worlds of Parvati and Om Agarwal, living in a Marwadi joint family where Parvati is an ideal daughter-in-law of Agarwal family and Om the ideal son.

After almost 14 years, the TV show is all set for a rerun on OTT platform Disney+Hotstar. Kiran Karmakar, who played Om Agarwal in the show, is especially excited about KGGK appearing again after so many years.

“I was quite surprised initially. I mean it was such a big show. But I think it will be fun. I actually loved the idea,” said Kiran.

He further added that he is looking forward to watching the show this time and is quite excited to see himself from 20 years ago.

“Although, I quite wonder how I will react to myself and my role that many years ago. I am excited but at the same time, I am sort of a self-critic. When I look back even like two years before, I keep criticizing my scenes, my look etc. So, I am constantly going to be like how am I looking, what am I doing in that scene, how did I do that scene like that!,” he added.

On the relevance of OTT platforms and the new kind of younger audiences, Kiran says things will be different this time as the viewers are going to be quite new. "It would be interesting to watch their reaction. The contemporary world is quite fast paced but our shows at that time used to be quite slow. So, I am quite curious to see what their reactions would be like,” concluded Karmakar.
