Shivangi Joshi looking forward to playing grown-up Anandi on Colors’ Balika Vadhu 2

Colors’ popular show Balika Vadhu 2 is gearing up for a generation leap soon. Actress Shivangi Joshi, who became a household name across India with the roaring success of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai on Star Plus, has been roped in to play grown-up Anandi on the show. Joining her on the cast will be Randeep Rai and Samridh Bawa who will be essaying the roles of Anand and Jigar, respectively.

After the leap, Balika Vadhu 2 will focus on Anandi’s journey as she tries to break away from the fetters of child marriage and find the new purpose in life. Anand, a man who believes in her completely, will give her wings to fly. Her husband Jigar, on the other hand, will try everything possible to clip those very wings.

Shivangi Joshi, who recently quit Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is looking forward to playing grown-up Anand on Balika Vadhu 2. “Essaying Anandi on the screen will be one of the celebrated characters I have played, and I am totally looking forward to it. Her story represents all the women who have been suppressed by the patriarchy prevailing in our society and how she begins rewriting her destiny by breaking the stereotypes. I feel extremely grateful to be a part of Balika Vadhu, a show known for its prosperous legacy and for changing storytelling on Indian television. I can’t wait for the audience to be a part of this new phase in Anandi’s life,” says the young actress.

Randeep Rai is also excited to play Anand on the show. He says, “Balika Vadhu is one of the most successful shows in television history and I am glad to have gotten the opportunity to play one of the leading characters Anand on the show. Anand is extremely responsible and tends to walk the path of righteousness and forever indebted to his family for adopting him. Samridh Bawa, who will step into the shoes of Jigar, says, “Balika Vadhu is a successful household show and viewers have showered immense love on it. I cannot express how happy I feel to get an opportunity to play such an important character in the show. Portraying a complicated character like Jigar is a big challenge and has many shades to it. I am looking forward to working with Colors yet again and excited to begin this new journey.”
