Millions of Indians have long regarded ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ as their favourite television programme. But after Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal claimed that producer Asit Kumar Modi had harassed her sexually, the situation spiralled out of control. She has also claimed that despite spending 15 years working on the show, she was not allowed a leave of absence, despite having told the production team in advance. Actress Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal claimed that ever since she did an interview criticising the producers, she has been exhausted. She has accused producer Asit Kumarr Modi of sexual harassment. Reliving the experience repeatedly traumatised her, she admitted to Hindustan Times. The actress expressed her sadness at fighting the ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ institution by herself. So yet, none of her female coworkers have come forward to express their support. She was reported to have said, "It is very sad they are not speaking up. Everyone has their own security." Later on, she claimed that she even tolerated the harassment subtly and would only speak up when absolutely necessary.

After an apparent fight, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal departed the programme. It appears that she had no intention of asking for her outstanding debts when she left. She claims she hasn't received payment in three to five months, and it's a respectable amount. She appears to be caring for a number of young women in the maternal side of her home. Additionally, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal practises spiritual healing. The actress claimed that despite having only Rs. 80K in her account thus far, she is not concerned. She claims that God will protect her just as he always has. The Mumbai Police have contacted the actress regarding the FIR.

A complaint against her has also been brought by the producing company. She has been given one week to respond. She is not currently in Mumbai. It appears that her lawyer Amit Khare was the one to inform her that she had allegedly been the victim of sexual harassment. She claimed that she had only spoken with the project's director, Sohil Ramani, about her concerns. She stated that she filed an official complaint with the Mumbai Police after they allegedly accused her of making sexual harassment charges solely to get money.
