The audience adored Ali Asgar and Kapil Sharma's collaboration on the latter's comedy shows. Over a period of years, the two collaborated, first on Comedy Nights With Kapil and then on The Kapil Sharma Show.
Ali abruptly left The Kapil Sharma Show, however, disappointing fans. The viewers received a double shock when Sunil Grover also departed the show at the same time as Ali's departure.
The reason for Ali's choice has been a mystery for years, but he recently broke his silence in an interview. Ali admitted in a conversation that he wasn't happy with his character's performance graph on The Kapil Sharma Show.
He stated, “I wasn’t creatively satisfied, as my character (Naani) wasn’t growing. When the time came to renew my contract, I shared my apprehensions with the team and told them that I wasn’t too keen on continuing on the show."
“Unfortunately, the incident between Kapil and Sunil took place around that time. Maybe, Kapil didn’t know the reason why I quit the show. It may not have reached him. I can’t cheat as an artist. If I am not happy, how will I entertain the audience? So, it seemed better to leave the show then and if something nice would come up, we could collaborate again,” he added further.
Ali also acknowledged that he could not repeat the same level of success with his later works.
