'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', created by Rajan Shahi and starring Hina Khan and Karan Mehra, has become one of the longest-running programmes in Indian television history. For about eight years, the couple portrayed the enduring roles of Akshara and Naitik before finally leaving the popular family drama. Later, the producers chose Mohsin Khan and Shivangi Joshi as the new lead couple. They portray the well-known characters Naira and Kartik, respectively, and their pairing quickly became popular with fans.
After Shivangi and Mohsin's entry, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ continued to draw big audiences, and they remained on the show till 2021. After the generational shift, new leads Pranali Rathod and Harshad Chopda joined the programme as Akshara and Abhimanyu, who are currently conquering hearts. Although viewers had their doubts about the generational shift, the show continues to excel in terms of TRP and is still one of the top daily soaps across all channels.
Pranali Rathod made her television debut on &TV's ‘Jaat Na Poocho Prem Ki’ in the role of Suman opposite Kinshuk Vaidya. She later portrayed a bad character in the Colors TV drama ‘Barrister Babu’ and appeared as Radha in the Sony TV series ‘Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye’. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, on the other hand, proved to be a pivotal moment in her career and cemented her status as a household name.
In a recent interview, Pranali Rathod discussed taking over as the new female lead from Shivangi Joshi and the pressure to succeed. The whole cast and crew have succeeded in leaving their mark. Talking about the initial pressure, Pranali told, "I don't know about pressure but I was a little scared and nervous. I did not take pressure because we are a team and we all have equally worked hard. We made sure we will make this work and because of the teamwork and everyone's passion, it has worked, people loved and accepted us."
