After The Family Man, Raj & DK set to rule 2022 with Gulkanda and Fakes
After the grand success of The Family Man 2 in 2021, filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (Raj-DK) are ready to blow off 2022 with their two upcoming web series. One is Gulkanda which was previously titled Ashwalinga. It is directed by Rahi Anil Barve of Tumbbad (2018) fame.
“It was earlier titled Ashwalinga but will now be called Gulkanda. It stars Kunal Kemmu, Pankaj Tripathi, and Abhishek Banerjee and is said to premiere on Amazon Prime. It is a period comedy set in the times of Kama Sutra,” a source in the know tells a publication.
The late Amit Mistry is going to be replaced by Gaurav Gera in Gulkanda. Amit Mistry had already shot some parts of the series before his sad demise. The actor was very close to Raj-DK. Together they did films like 99 (2009), Shor in the City (2011), and A Gentleman (2011).
The director of the show, Rahi Anil Barve put up a post on December 31st where he revealed the challenges faced by the team while shooting in the cold at Ladakh, the increased budget, COVID-19 pandemic and death of Amit Mistry.
The second web series will be Raj and DK’s directorial venture, where Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi will be starring in lead roles. The series is titled Fakes as per recent reports.
