It has been a couple of weeks since Amazon Prime Video announced the official remaking of Anne Hathway’s Modern Love series in Hindi. The streamer will back the adaptation titled Modern Love: Mumbai. If reports are to be believed, the team has already begun production on the project.
Six maverick Indian filmmakers have come onboard to helm an episode of this anthology. These include Vishal Bhardwaj, Shonali Bose, Hansal Mehta, Alankrita Srivastava, Nupur Asthana, and Dhruv Sehgal.
And now, the makers have reportedly locked the cast for the adaptation. Modern Love Mumbai will feature such actors as Pratik Gandhi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Arshad Warsi, Chitrangda Singh and Wamiqa Gabbi on the primary cast.
Apart from Hindi, Amazon Prime Video is also backing Tamil and Telugu adaptations of Modern Love, titled Modern Love: Chennai and Modern Love: Hyderabad.
James Farrell, head of local originals, Amazon Studios had earlier said in a statement, “Modern Love is an ode to love in its varied forms. We have seen audiences across the world relate with the stories from our US show, and we feel India’s diverse culture organically lends itself to the series. We’re confident that the Indian adaptations will similarly touch a chord with our customers.”
If all goes well, the series will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video in late 2022.
