The filmmaker Abhinay Deo has flown on the OTT campaign only now, but he's out to a captivating launch. His web series, Brown, premiered at the Berlinale Series Market Selects last week. Indeed, he takes tiny steps in digital entertainment with Karisma Kapoor- starrer Brown. He regrets that the Indian OTT section may not be living over to the initiative it presented at its start.
Deo mentions that long-format storytelling permits a director to discover stories that viewers might not discover on the big screen. Many content creators also started following the obstructive structures of the theatrical business.
He says, "We are in a good and a bad place. It's good because the format allows us to do so much more. But at the same time, [OTT content] has started getting into a rut. Once upon a time, it was an [avenue] where we could have made great cinema. But now, suddenly, we are [being dominated] by the need for big numbers. So, we need to [cast] big actors in the projects. Unfortunately, we are moving into the same template [as theatrical movies]. As OTT evolves further, hopefully, it will get to a better place."
Constantly hoping for a second installment of the web series. Still, directors remained away from re-entering the black comedy. Deo mentions, "From the day Delhi Belly was released to today, I am asked about a sequel. The way I make films is organic; I believe [a fitting story] has to come to me."
The web series Brown:-
The series includes themes of depression, insignificance, addiction, corruption, and the appearance of falsehood. They must put their demons aside and find a serial killer whose belief in his divine destiny cannot stop him. Abhinay Deo directs and produces by Zee Studios.
