The Mumbai chapter of the popular US original anthology series Modern Love (2019) (directed by John Carney) explores six separate yet universal stories of different angles, hues, and moods of love, all set in the city's many diverse settings. Modern Love Mumbai, based on the popular New York Times column, brings together six of Hindi cinema's most brilliant minds: Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Dhruv Sehgal, Alankrita Shrivastava, and Nupur Asthana.
Six heartwarming stories about "discovering and embracing love in all its hues and emotions" will be featured in the new series. Raat Rani, directed by Bose and starring Fatima Sana Shaikh, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Dilip Prabhavalkar, and Mehta's Baai, starring Tanuja, Pratik Gandhi, and Ranveer Brar, is included in the anthology.
Mumbai Dragon, starring Yeo Yann Yann, Meiyang Chang, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Naseeruddin Shah, is directed by Bhardwaj, while My Beautiful Wrinkles, starring Sarika, Danesh Razvi, Ahsaas Channa, and Tanvi Azmi, is directed by Shrivastava.
Masaba Gupta, Ritwik Bhowmik, Prateik Babbar, Aadar Malik, and Dolly Singh star in Sehgal's I Love Thane, while Chitrangada Singh and Arshad Warsi star in Asthana's Cutting Chai.
The anthology, which is based on a famous New York Times column, will feature "soul-stirring and uplifting stories that are rooted in the heart of the city of Mumbai."
Modern Love: Chennai and Modern Love: Hyderabad are two other local adaptations of the series.
Modern Love Mumbai is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on 13th May, 2022.
