2020 brought a pleasant surprise from Hansal Mehta when he released his online series ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’. The director created ‘Scam 2003: The Telgi Story’ as a spiritual successor following its enormous popularity. Netizens turned to social media to express their opinions about the series as soon as the first episode went up online. Gagan Dev Riar plays the lead character in the drama series, which is based on the life of con man Abdul Karim Telgi.

Scam 2003, a highly anticipated web series, premiered on SonyLIV on September 1. Many individuals wrote about it on X (previously Twitter). A user posted, "The Telgi Story is a masterpiece! Hansal Mehta and Tushar Hiranandani sir have done a brilliant job." He also encouraged the creators to release every episode at once. Gagan Dev Riar, the series’ star, was commended by another user and described as a "great actor."

It was also referred to be a "masterpiece" by a third user, and its title sequence received appreciation from a second. It's interesting to note that when ‘Scam 1992's’ title sequence debuted, it was also praised. In general, people adored the opening episode of the series. The remaining episodes will eventually be dropped by the creators.

Hansal Mehta is the showrunner and Tushar Hiranandani is the director of ‘Scam 2003’. Sana Amin Sheikh, Bharat Jadhav, Shobha Khote, Mukesh Tiwari, Gagan Dev Riar, and Shaad Randhawa are among the cast members. Abdul Karim Telgi was a con artist who created fake stamp documents. Even more than 300 employees were employed by him to market his stamp materials to various organizations. However, his scheme was discovered, and on January 17, 2006, Telgi and his accomplices were given a 30-year sentence with a life sentence. He received an additional 17 years in prison in 2007 for a different offense. He had a number of health issues for months before passing away on October 23, 2017, at the age of 56.
