Sonali Bendre made her Bollywood debut in 1994 with the film Aag. The actress has been captivating the audience since her first film itself. She is now set to enter the digital space. Yes, Bendre will be making her OTT debut with the upcoming streaming show The Broken News. The actress announced the project on Wednesday by sharing a preview of the show.
The 40-second-long teaser introduces Sonali Bendre as Awaaz Bharati journalist Amina Qureshi. The phrases “Hijacked” and "Breaking News" flash on the screen. Then actor Jaideep Ahlawat appears as Josh 24/7's Dipankar Sanyal, who is ready to "hijack" the audience's attention with "spicy and sensational" news.
Then there is Sonali Bendre as Amina, who promises to bring factual news without exaggeration. "Sach dikhana hamari zimmadari hai (It is our obligation to show the truth)," Amina states in the video.
Shriya Pilgaonkar, who plays Radha Bhargava from Awaaz Bharati, completes the trio, leaving the audience to decide what news they prefer. She asks, "Sansani ya sach (Sensationalism or truth)?"
Sharing the teaser on her Instagram handle, the Sarfarosh (1999) actress wrote, “I'm still processing that this is actually happening. Finally…the ‘news' is out. It feels so good to be back on set, back to the creative process, interacting with my co-actors and director… bringing life to a character. I'm so happy to make my OTT debut with Zee5, we've done so much together and it feels like family.”
The Broken News is a remake of the popular British show, Press from 2018. The drama follows the journey of two rival news channels.
