Sushmita entered the entertainment industry after winning the titles of Miss India and Miss Universe in 1994. She started her cinematic career a few years later. She previously appeared in the Hotstar television show Aarya. She received the Filmfare OTT Awards' Best Actor Female honour for her performance in the first season of the show. Now, Sushmita has announced her new project, Taali where for the first time she will play the role of a transgender. The transgender activist Gauri Sawant will be the focus of the actor Sushmita Sen's next web series.

Sushmita shared the first image from the show and wrote that she felt "proud and fortunate" to present Sawant's narrative on the big screen. About Taali
In 2000, activist Gauri Sawant founded the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust, an NGO that promotes safe sex and provides therapy to transgender people. The six-part series will follow Sawant's life and the difficulties she encounters as the country's first transgender mother.
Sushmita’s future projects
Sushmita made her digital television debut in the crime-thriller drama streaming television series Aarya, which debuted on Disney+Hotstar, in the meantime. For the second season, she reprised her role. According to rumors, Aarya's third season will be available soon. The third season of Aarya hasn't yet had a release date announced by the show's creators, though.
