Yayyy! Netflix ANNOUNCES Stranger Things’ Animated Spin-Off Helmed By The Duffer Brothers

Netflix is expanding the 'Stranger Things franchise, with the internet platform ordering an animated series set in the show's setting. 'Variety' states that nearly all facts regarding the show are being kept under wraps, except for the fact that it was created by Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions. Robles previously developed the animated show "Random! Cartoons," "Fanboy & Chum Chum," and "Glitch Techs."

The Duffer brothers of 'Stranger Things executive produce through Upside Down Pictures, as do Robles of Flying Bark and Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps. Netflix has overall arrangements with Upside Down Pictures and 21 Laps.

"We've always dreamed of an animated 'Stranger Things' in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving," the Duffer brothers stated in a statement.

"We are completely blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have created — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can't wait to share more with you!" "The adventure continues..."

Since its premiere in 2016, 'Stranger Things' has proven to be a global sensation and one of Netflix's most popular original series. It was revived for a fifth and final season in February 2022.

In July 2022, Netflix announced plans for a live-action spinoff series and a stage show, and the Duffers formed Upside Down Pictures at the moment. The Duffer Brothers have previously stated that the live-action spinoff will not focus on characters such as Eleven or Steve Harrington. In March 2023, it was stated that the stage production will take place in Hawkins in 1959 and would make its debut in London's West End.

The Duffers are also hard at work on a live-action TV adaptation of the Japanese manga and anime series death Note. The series was previously converted into a live-action Netflix film in 2017. They are also working on a series adaptation of Stephen King and Peter Straub's book 'The Talisman,' in collaboration with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and Paramount Television.
