Aamir Khan And Reena Dutta’s Daughter Ira Khan Reveals Being A Victim Of DEPRESSION Because Of Her Parents' DIVORCE; Says 'Made It Seem Like It Was Not A Big Deal…’ (Details Inside)

Ira Khan, the daughter of Bollywood star Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta, has frequently spoken out about issues relating to mental health. The star child has frequently discussed her personal struggles with depression and how she overcame them. For the uninitiated, Ira received a clinical depression diagnosis more than five years ago.

Ira recently disclosed that one of the factors contributing to her sadness was the separation of her parents. Ira claims that although the divorce was 'amicable,' it nonetheless had a significant negative effect on her mental health.

Ira claimed in an interview that she doesn't 'blame' her parents for her mental health problem, despite the fact that their divorce is one of the things that sets off her inner upheaval. She acknowledged that she believed Reena and Aamir Khan had led her to believe that being divorced "was not a big deal". At the time of Aamir and Reena's divorce in 2002, Ira Khan was a very young child.

Ira stated, “My therapist said that one of the trigger points was my parents, who handled their divorce as well as they could at that point. It was amicable. I am not blaming them, but what they didn’t realise is that because they made it seem like divorce was not a big deal, there was a perception my mind created of the situation. We create perceptions and we don’t necessarily communicate to people about those. So, I blame myself for my depression. I spent 20 years thinking that you have to be sad for people to love you. But now how do I go back? I want to be happy! So now, I have to systematically undo everything that I have done”.

Ira Khan had disclosed that there are mental health concerns in her family in an earlier interview with the same outlet. She claimed that depression in her case is partially inherited this time as well. The celebrity child was quoted by the publication as stating, “Depression is a little complicated. It is partly genetic, partly psychological, and social. In my case it is partly genetic. There is a history of mental health issues in my family on my mom and dad’s side.”

Ira freely discussed her struggles in the title of a video she posted on World Mental Health Day in 2010 that was about mental illness. Ira had penned, “A lot has been going on, a lot of people have a lot to say. Things are really confusing and stressful and simple and okay but not okay and… life all together. There’s no way to say it all in one go. But I’d like to think I’ve figured some stuff out, or at least figured out how to make it slightly more understandable. Ira now desires to be happy in life alongside the man she loves, Nupur Shikhare. Last year, the couple got married. She recently started the Agastu Foundation in an effort to help individuals with their mental health, and she intends to work tirelessly on its behalf in the future.
