Just as 'Gadar' achieved blockbuster status, its sequel, 'Gadar 2,' has proven to be an outstanding success. Having hit the screens on August 11, the movie has already amassed a staggering Rs 300 crore within a mere eight days. With the resounding triumph of 'Gadar 2,' it appears that the creators are enthusiastic about resurrecting the 1997 classic, 'Border,' and presenting audiences with 'Border 2.'
Numerous reports are circulating, suggesting that JP Dutta, the director behind the original 'Border,' is contemplating the release of 'Border 2.' The film is anticipated to feature Sunny Deol alongside a talented ensemble of young actors. JP Dutta, who helmed the original production, is purportedly taking on the role of producer for this sequel.
As per reports, a source revealed to an entertainment news portal, “The team has been discussing the probability of making a Border sequel for the last 2 to 3 years and everything has now finally fallen into place as the team is all set to make an official announcement about Border 2 in a fortnight. The team has identified a tale from the 1971 Indo-Pak war that is not yet told on the big screen and are all charged up to bring it to the spectacle.”
“Being a heavy-on action film, the team will be casting actors from the younger generation rather than bringing together the entire troop of 'Border'. Sunny Deol will probably be the only actor from 'Border' who will be a part of 'Border 2' as well. It’s all in the early stages at the moment and more updates will come our way once the film is officially announced very soon,” the source further told the portal.

Released in 1997, 'Border' boasted an ensemble cast that included Jackie Shroff, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, Pooja Bhatt, Tabu, Sharbani Mukherjee, and veteran stars such as Raakhee, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Puneet Issar. The film emerged as one of the most significant blockbusters of that decade.
