He recently explained why he never tried to develop movies with huge stars like Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan. He disclosed to Puja Talwar during a conversation that he moved to Bollywood to make films. There came a point when he fell into the habit of chasing stars. Everyone was encouraging him, 'If you're accomplishing this much without stars, imagine what you'll do with stars.' That's when the tide starts to turn and the slide begins.
Working with celebs comes with specific expectations, according to Kashyap, and directors must adhere to their image while also catering to their following.
He admitted, "I don't know how to do that. If you don't cater to their fanbase while working with a star, they will cancel you. And my film did get cancelled because I was making my own movie. I am not catering to anybody's friends or fanbase."
Kashyap remarked that even when huge performers like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan experiment with diverse roles, they can't ignore their fanbase. Their followers' reactions can be powerful, as evidenced by Salman Khan's supporters' criticism of filmmaker Kabir Khan following the release of ‘Tubelight.’
