Long after Aryan Khan was released from prison in the narcotics case, NCB officer Sameer Wankhede was accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 25 crore from Shah Rukh Khan. In the most recent development, the NCB Official's lawyer has made a substantial amendment and included more grounds pertaining to relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act in his plea, after the Bombay High Court authorised him to revise his petition.
The official made headlines after alleged WhatsApp conversations between Wankhede and SRK leaked online. According to the hacked talks, the celebrity begged for his son's. However, a close friend later discovered that those were not genuine.
According to recent media reports, Sameer Wankhede's lawyer has petitioned the Bombay High Court that Shah Rukh Khan should also be tried for accepting a bribe. According to the lawyer, the Prevention of Corruption Act specifies that anyone who provides a bribe to a public worker in order to get an unfair benefit would be prosecuted.
Previously, Shah Rukh Khan's friend dismissed the leaked WhatsApp discussions, saying that SRK is not so stupid to put himself out there, and that SRK never uses WhatsApp.
The friend said, “If these chats are authentic, then he created a chat box for Mr Wankhede. Is he so stupid as to put himself out there in the public domain? The language used, the pauses, the way the father is seen pleading for his son… are all highly unlikely to be authentic. SRK doesn’t talk like that. When his son was jailed, he contacted no one to get Aryan out. He believed firmly in letting the law take its course. Night after sleepless night, SRK waited for his son to be released. He did not plead with any government officer for his son’s freedom. He knew Aryan was innocent. He waited.”
