The ‘Brahmastra’ actor previously admitted he left Gowariker's sweeping historical romance film, which starred Hrithik as the Mughal Empire's Emperor Akbar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the Hindu Princess Jodhaa Bai. The movie was a financial success and received numerous honours, such as multiple Filmfare, Star Screen, and IIFA awards. A few international accolades were also won by it.
According to the news sources, the cast of ‘Bombay Velvet’ Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, and Anushka Sharma and the film's director, Anurag Kashyap, were forced to play a game of ‘I Have Never’ during the film's promotion. The four were questioned about whether they had ever left a movie during the part.
The 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' actor continued by saying that his late father, Rishi Kapoor, was furious with his choice and that ever then, he has never left a movie early. When Karan Johar heard Ranbir Kapoor make this revelation, he was taken aback and stated, “Of course, Jodhaa Akbar, starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, turned out to be one of the superhit films of the year. If only Ranbir had known.”
‘Bombay Velvet’, starring Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor, produced by Karan Johar, was a commercial failure while ‘Jodha Akbar’, from 2008, was a critical and commercial smash. After receiving mixed first reviews and abject failure at the box office, it was deemed a commercial disaster.
