Manisha Koirala, an actress, was among the most sought-after stars in the 1990s. She has appeared in many films in various languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and others. In Hindi, she made her debut in 1991 with the film 'Saudagar' and established herself without the help of a godfather. Manisha began her South film career with Mani Ratnam's 'Bombay' (1995), Indian (1996), and 'Mudhalvan' (2000). She is known for her stunning beauty and stellar performances (1999).
The actress recently revealed that her South film career collapsed due to superstar Rajinikanth. Isn't it shocking?
Manisha Koirala co-starred with Rajinikanth in the 2002 Tamil film 'Baba,' which was a box office flop. It was Manisha's last film in Kollywood, and she was never seen in another Tamil film after that. Manisha Koirala recently revealed in an interview that she had high hopes for Rajinikanth's 'Baba,' but it was a flop. Koirala stated that she never received offers from the Tamil film industry after her flop film. Manisha stated about her flop career in Tamil cinema, "Baba was probably my last big Tamil film. It flopped so badly in those days. It was a huge disaster."
She added, "Lot of expectations were on the film, and when it flopped, I thought my career in south films was gone completely, and it did in a way. After Baba flopped, I stopped getting offers. Strangely, the film turned out to be a hit when it was re-released, which is unheard of. Rajini sir can never give a flop. He is such a kind man to work with." Remarkably, 'Baba' was re-released last year on Rajinikanth's birthday, and the film succeeded.
