Shabana Azmi didn't hesitate to criticise the vulgar lyrics for Salman Khan & Kareena Kapoor Khan's 'Dabangg 2' song 'Fevicol Se.' Azmi regarded the song lyrics as weird and suspicious. She also noted that dancing children make it worse.
The 'Arth' actor criticised the Dabangg song during a 2018 panel. She even criticised Hindi Cinema's item song culture.

Shabana Azmi said that she supports women appreciating their bodies in a healthy way. She recommended where to draw the border, and her reasoning was good. Read why the actor disliked 'Fevicol Se' below.
At the 2018 FICCI Frames panel, Shabana Azmi remarked, “I have strong views on item numbers because they are not part of the narrative, and they’ve been put in a film for the sole purpose of titillation." She said she doesn't mind sensuality but hates objectification.
“When a girl or leading lady says, ‘It’s alright, I want to celebrate my sensuality’, I don’t mind. That’s great. In the same debate, the 'Masoom' actress remarked, "But under the pretense of ‘celebrating your sensuality’, what you are actually doing is surrendering to the male gaze and objectifying yourselves because the business of cinema is of images."
She then criticised Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor's 'Dabangg 2' song 'Fevicol Se' lyrics. Shabana Azmi stated, “Please be informed, when you say ‘main tandoori murgi hu, gatka lo mujhe alcohol kay saath’ and a four-year-old girl is dancing on it, you are leading to the s*xualisation of children and the parents who are enjoying it, people who are encouraging her are just as responsible.”
The actress also mentioned Katrina Kaif's swimsuit moment from Zoya Akhtar's 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.' Azmi remarked, “In the film, Katrina Kaif comes out of the water in a bikini, the camera doesn’t go close to her, doesn’t linger on her bosom or the droplets falling. "The camera in mid-frame sees her coming out of the water, picking up her bathrobe, wearing it, and you immediately accept that she is an instructor coming and doing her job." She demonstrated how a different shot may satisfy the masculine gaze. The same shot would be objectification if the director went beyond. Thus, intent. "Sensuality is different from objectification," she concluded.
