Tall, Dark and Handsome; probably the Bachchans personify these words to the best. Abhishek Bachchan is an Indian film actor with a great personality inherited from father-Amitabh Bachchan, the star of the millennium. Abhishek is the son of yesteryear superstar Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. He has an elder sister Shweta Nanda. International Actress Aishwarya Rai is his beloved spouse. Abhishek's last name comes from Grand Father Harivansh Rai Bachchan who, being a Poet used 'Bachchan' as a pen name which was later adopted by Amitabh when he entered the industry. Their real surname is Shrivastava.

Born on 5th February 1976 the star was a Dyslexic in his childhood which was discovered later by parents due to which he attended many schools viz., Bombay Scottish School, Jamnabai Narsee Monjee School in Mumbai, Mordern School, New Delhi and Aiglon College Switzerland. But the actor overcame his limitations and went to study MBA at Boston University. But then realizing his actual dreams of Acting he dropped out and came back to achieve his dreams.

He had planned to start his career along with friend Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's then Debut movie which could not happen due to some reason. Abhishek Debuted in J. P. Dutta's 'Refugee' along with actress Kareena Kapoor who also debuted with the same movie. The movie failed to grab the audiences. After that he did a bunch of flop movies like 'Sharaarat','Bas Itna Sa Khwab Hai','Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke', Sooraj Barjatya's 'Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon' etc. He received a favoring response from critics for his role in the latter. 'Kuch Naa Kaho', his second time pairing with wife Aishwarya was an Average Hit. His acting in 2004 movie 'Yuva' was well appreciated by the critics. He was endowed with a Filmfare Award for Best supporting Actor. Yash Raj's 'Dhoom' proved to be his first ever Commercial success. Then in 2005, he appeared in super hit 'Bunty aur Babli' along with Rani Mukerji. His next movie 'Sarkar' by family friend Ram Gopal Verma got critical acclamation. He earned second Filmfare award for the best supporting actor category. He appeared in Multi-starrer 'Dus' with his Idol Sanjay Dutt which was an average hit. Abhishek then appeared in Family buddy Rohan Sippy's 'Bluffmaster' along with close pal Riteish Deshmukh which was a moderate success. He has also sung for the first time in the movie. 2006's 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' of Karan Johar earned him his 3rd consecutive Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. His third movie with wife Aishwarya-'Umrao Jaan' failed but their fourth one 'Dhoom 2' was a blockbuster and the highest grosser of that year.

After that Abhishek and Aishwarya were seen in Mani Ratnam's 'Guru' which presented the star in a totally different role of a Gujarati Businessman. It is considered as Abhishek's best till date. Father Amitabh Bachchan publicly stated him to be better than himself in terms of acting. His next big hit was Karan Johar's 'Dostana' (2008) where he displayed a great chemistry with fellow co-star John Abraham. He finally got along with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in 'Delhi 6'. The movie got mixed reviews. He produced the movie 'Paa' in which he also acted. The film won the National Award for the best feature film in Hindi. He appeared seventh time with wife Aishwarya Rai (6th being Sarkar Raaj) in Mani Ratnam's 'Raavana' in a Negative Shade. The movie could not do much. He also featured in Ashutosh Gowarikar's 'Khelein hum Jee Jaan Sey'. His next movies, 'Game', 'Dum Maaro Dum','Players' flopped. But he bounced back with Rohit Shetty's 'Bol Bachchan' which was one of the highest grosser of 2012.

Coincidentally Abhishek has played either a Cop or a thief most of his movies like his Dad. Abhishek has also made special appearances in many movies. He was awarded the Best Brand Ambassador of the year Award at the NDTV Techlife Award in 2009. Abhishek will next be seen in 'Dhoom 3'.
