At the box office, ‘Gumraah’ is having trouble breaking the meagre Rs 10-crore barrier. Aditya's highly appreciated performance in The Night Manager was followed immediately by this. At this pace, the movie might soon be taken out of theatres. Recent films like Ajay Devgn's ‘Bholaa’ and ‘Dasara’ by Nani are rivals to ‘Gumraah’.

Vardhan Ketkar, a new director, directed ‘Gumraah’. The movie is made by Murad Khetani's Cine1 Studios and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The movie opened in theatres on April 7, 2023. The criminal thriller is a Tamil film adaptation titled Thadam. Along with Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy, Aditya Roy Kapur also appears in the movie in a dual character.
‘Gumraah's’ plot centres on sub-inspector Shivani Mathur, who is tasked with looking into a man's murder. She discovers two suspects who resemble each other but are unaware of one another. Shivani's situation worsens as she learns more details about the case. Songs for the movie were written by Mithoon, Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, and Abhijit Vaghani.
